The scheme is a luxury five star hotel featuring 220 guest rooms and suites above a ground floor hospitality offer:
- Destination Restaurants and bars, Rooftop bar
- Ballroom, Meeting rooms, Business Centre
- Fitness Club, Kids Club, Lap pool
To reflect the unique culture and environment of Rotorua and its people, the hotel design is inspired by the Māori legend of Pekehaua. Pekehaua is a Taniwha – large mysterious creatures who are the guardians of the lakes and rivers of Rotorua. Sometimes the Taniwha become dangerous and attack people, as was
the case with Pekehaua. To protect themselves the local Māori people, Ngati Whakaue, wove large traps called hinaki made of tree vines, to capture the Taniwha. The Hinaki is the inspiration for the Hotel design.
